News from the latest Dog Park Committee meeting 7/27/09:

Card readers are coming soon. These will be locks on the gates to the park which will open to allow access with your pooch pass. The town has the money and is in the process of making final arrangements to order them.

We are talking to the town about still retaining park attendants on a limited basis after the card readers are installed.

The discussion about changing the rule of no toys in the park seems to hit a dead end with no change in sight.

A Bill of Rights has been adopted for park patrons. Please click here to go to the web site page and read your rights.

If you haven't updated your pooch pass from last year, you need to do so right away. The old passes are no longer good for access to the park. For those of you that are new to the Middle Island Dog Park, there is a link at the right that will take you to the online form. Just fill it out, print it and take it with your vaccination proof and picture of your pooch to Town Hall at One Independence Hill in Farmingville. It only takes about 10 minutes and your pooch will be able to join our pooches at the park for some summer fun. You can click here for directions to Town Hall.

The Middle Island Dog Park now has a blog. There is a place on the blog for your comments and suggestions. You can click here to go to the blog page.

In pursuing our goals to make communication easier for the patrons of the Middle Island Dog Park, we now have a Yahoo group. The group was set up so we could communicate, plan, and pursue our goal, a healthy, safe and fun place for our dogs and ourselves. If you would like to take an active part in helping the park, the animals and the patrons, please join our group.
